(hurricane sandy the day after}

well sandy has passed us.  i hear she's over pennsylvania now and is no longer a hurricane.  we spared well here in MA.  some flooding and power outages but no major issues that i'm aware of.  i have some pics and video for you all later.

the kids were with their dad for both this hurricane and last years.  i dropped them off yesterday on my way into work and they were nervous.  lisa and i stopped by last night when we thought they might need to evacuate over at dad's and they were fine.  :)  they were most excited about another day off from school.  wait until june when they're staying late.  lol.

this is from this morning.  right down the street from us.  such a beautiful sunrise after such a dark day yesterday.
Post #hurricanesandy sunrise in MA.

here's some stuff i found around the web.

this is sandy yesterday at 2:20 PM.  she was huge.

The HMS Bounty, a 180-foot sailboat, is submerged in the Atlantic Ocean during Hurricane Sandy approximately 90 miles southeast of Hatteras, North Carolina, on October 29, 2012. Of the 16-person crew, the Coast Guard rescued 14, recovered a woman who was later pronounced dead and are still searching for the captain. over 50 houses and maybe as much as 100 were burned to the ground in a six alarm fire last night in Queens NY.

and lastly NYU medical center lost power and needed to be evacuated.  including 20 newborns.  nurses carried them down nine flights of stairs in the dark holding them close and sometimes on stretchers to be able to hold the babies "skin to skin".  amazing.

{hurricane sandy}

let me just say, this hurricane better still be a hurricane when it gets here tomorrow.  we really got the short end of the stick on that one.  i blogged about hurricane irene a lot last year.  like a lot.  i was prepared.  if you're interested there are some posts.....

       here and

for this storm?  nothing.   i haven't blogged about it.  i haven't prepared for it.  at all.  until today.  nothing like the last minute huh?

i ran to walmart {i know} for water on the way home from a birthday party. there was not water in sight. i started grabbing individual vitamin waters just to not have to leave empty handed. then i gave in and headed over to housewares for disposable bread loaf pans. what says hurricane food more than banana bread??! well on our way over i saw an employee pulling a pallet of gallons of spring water. i had bay chase him down for me and grab two. he's such a good kid. and voila! water AND banana bread. bring it on sandy.

oh we're making cookies too. we know how to hurricane it up!

i stopped by the beach on the way home and it's already so windy out.

here's a short video of the wind for ya.  :)
