This ecard sums me up perfectly!

I shared last week that I'm training to run my first 5K. I started counting calories and walking mooooooooooooooonths ago to be healthier and lose weight. {Mostly to lose weight} I lost 25 pounds and now since I've started running, my weight loss is at a standstill. And you know what? I really truly don't care. I feel better about myself now than I ever have in my entire life. Sure I'm not as skinny or young as I once was, but I am stronger than ever.

Last night at the gym I ran 3.14 miles in 54m 5s on the treadmill. This was the both the farthest and longest I've ever run. And by run I mean kind of jog and by longest and farthest I mean with breaks of walking. But I did run most of the time. If I had to guess, at least 75-80% of it. I know that this isn't very fast to most people, but like I've shared before, I mostly shuffle speedily. ;)

I never ever thought I'd be able to be a runner. The desire to be a runner hit me over a year ago but my mind kept telling me that it wasn't possible. I was too old, too big, and too asthmatic. But then as I started progressing walking, I added a bit of running. Started the Couch to 5K running program, got to week three, dumped it, just started running as far as I could and never looked back. Trust me, if I can run, ANYONE can run.

I'm so excited to be in this phase of my life. Strong is an amazing feeling.

farthest run - 3.14 miles ... longest time - 54m 5s

  1. Way to go! It's so awesome that you've found the motivation to do this. While driving to work the other day I had the crazy thought that it would be cool to get in shape and run in a race. This post totally motivated me!
