tales from the quintessential fat girl: {happy birthday ian}

happy birthday my sweet boy! today you are six. six years old. i can't even believe it. time goes by so quickly. some day you'll understand what i mean by that. let's sit down and have a drink and chat about you.

i started this little tradition last year with chloe so i didn't write to you. but i did write about you. you can see two posts from your birthday last year {here} and {here}. there are quite a few baby pics in there so we'll focus on this year.

this year was a big year for you. you started kindergarten! and started taking the bus to school for the first time. and a ton of other stuff. this might take a while. mommy takes a lot of pictures! :)

we went to the providence children's museum this year. you all loved it. you can see more pics of it here.

we went to lake winnipesaukee this summer too. it was so much fun. definitely going to become one of our regular vacation spots.

you played tee ball this year. i think you had a love/hate relationship with it. some days you had so much fun and some days you were crying that you didn't want to go. but you always had fun once you got there! lisa was the coach for your team. how awesome?!

someday you'll hate me for pictures like this but then again someday later, you'll love me for them. trust me.

you love your mommy so very much. we have a very special relationship you and me.

i mean, look at us! we're cute.

you have the greatest style sense ever....

you do a good job of doing whatever crazy thing i ask you to do for a picture. i love that. but more importantly, you don't take yourself too seriously. i hope you never lose that. hold on to that for as long as you can.

we went to geppetto's our favorite pizza place for the first time during the summer and got to sit outside.

we also had a summer bucket list this year. you can see it here. one of the things on our list was to go to dairy queen so we did that for the first time this summer. you can see more pics of that day here. you got a cherry dip cone. yummm!

lisa also introduced you guys to frozen capri suns this summer. you all thought they were amazing!

we went to the beach a lot this year too. now that you're all a little older everyone loves it and the whining was at minimum.

you weren't always the most observant while in the outfield. i'm glad i have my big long lens to catch these moments too.

again, one of those one's that you'll love some day....promise.

as part of the summer bucket list we played simon says in the backyard in our jammies.

right after that we had our second annual s'mores in the driveway night. you can see more of both of these here.

you had your first bee sting this summer. you love critters and this summer really started playing with them. well while at free lunch with lisa and the gang you tried to pick up a bee. silly boy. you guys came to see me at work and i brought you some ice. you look really sad here but you were hamming it up for mommy. trust me. ;)

you still have those beautiful long lashes that everyone is envious of.

you also took swim lessons this year. i'm not sure why i don't have more pics of it here cause i know there are a million of them. you really enjoyed swim.

we did mommy's photo scavenger hunt again this summer. you loved being a big helper.

we went to our first hot air balloon festival this summer. you loved walking inside of the old balloon and the train ride. there are more pics of this day here.

we went to bass pro shops this summer too. it was the first time for all of us except lisa. you guys loved it!

we signed you up for kindergarten and then you got to go for a visit.

just a few short weeks later you were sharing chloe's bus stop with her!

isobel also started school that day. she didn't go on the bus but she did take some pics with you.

we went apple picking for the first time this fall too. it was a lot of fun even if there weren't a lot of apples left.

you love doing people's hair and want to be a hair dresser when you grow up.

you love being a hair dresser so much that you decided to cut your own hair. oops! and when jess was going to fix it for you, you wanted to make sure that she didn't "mess it up".

Someone wants to be hairdresser when he grows up and decided to practice on himself. #forreallife

we saw a lot of movies this year. this is from when we went to see hotel transylvania with your cousins.

you had a "special person/grandparents" day at school for thanksgiving. none of your grandparents could make it so you got to choose who went. you chose me. you made a special bracelet that day. i'm wearing it today. you saw it in the van this morning at the bus stop and asked me to put it on.

this is our christmas card pic this year. we take it every year on thanksgiving. it's amazing how big you all get every year.

you love helping out and you love your bigger brother so much.

again. lol. but i love that you love dressing up. even in the girl's costumes.

miss maggie gives you monthly family projects. you really enjoy doing them.

we went to your first holiday breakfast at school.

you had an elf on the shelf in your classroom that played a trick on everyone.

you and izz have become very close. you guys are cuties.

you're playing basketball now. you love it!

i love that you love to get your nails painted. it's too adorable.

you all love taking the tape out of the dispensers at target and putting it on your mouth. i'm not sure why but i can't say i'd be against you doing it at home. ;)

you learned how to tie your shoes recently. you caught on so quickly!

for your birthday this year we went swimming at the Y with some of your cousins.

this morning i got to see you for a little bit while jess and daddy brought will to have his eye surgery. we took some quick birthday pics at the bus stop.
